100 Club Youth Arts Programme
Join over seventy young musicians from the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO) Academy, Royal Academy of Music Junior Jazz, Engines Orchestra, Leeds College of Music and GW Jazz for session of workshops, performances and jams as part of the 100 Clubs Jazz and Blues Week.
NYJO Presents…
Rising stars Rosie Frater-Taylor and Marco Natale-Miles will kickstart the evening with a workshop exploring groove based improvisation. Our young musicians with then take to the stage with their bands to perform two sets of original material and finish the night off with a jam.
Musicians of all ages and abilities are welcome to take part in the workshops and jam – register for a place HERE! And if you don’t fancy a play, come down and soak up the atmosphere!
London-based singer/songwriter & multi-instrumentalist Rosie Frater-Taylor currently attends the four-year jazz degree course at the Royal Academy of Music. She began her journey into jazz via classes at jazz new blood hubs Tomorrow’s Warriors and the National Youth Jazz Orchestra. Rosie currently plays with dynamic North London based duo Frater and Taylor, whilst forging ahead with her own band who she is set to release her debut album On My Mind with (out Oct 1st). With influences ranging from Lianne La Havas, Becca Stevens and Joni Mitchell to Erykah Badu On My Mind marks the start of an exciting chapter for Rosie Frater-Taylor.
Marco Natale-Miles Quintet - Marco Natale-Miles is a 19-year-old jazz trumpet player who began playing jazz at age 13. Around this time he joined NYJO and has been involved with NYJO ever since. Other notable places that Marco has studied at include The Purcell School, The Royal Academy Junior Jazz department and is now currently studying at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama. The Marco Natale-Miles Quintet play exciting new material as well as explorative improvisations on standards with a strong tie between the old and new, whilst always striving for innovations of creativity within Jazz.
