Despite growing up in New Jersey, Sharon Van Etten's past is strongly rooted in Tennessee - spending five years trapped in a destructive relationship that has since formed the basis for many of her songs. Her slow, sad songs perfectly suit her heartbreaking vocals, often found double-tracked, creating beautiful melancholic harmonies. Last year saw the release of Etten's arresting second album, 'Epic', which ditched the minimalism of debut 'Because I Was In Love' in favour of more lush instrumentation, laying a romantic melancholy lining over the gravel and dirt of heartbreak, without one honest thought or feeling spared. The record made it onto many best of year lists, and high profile fans include The National, José González and Bon Iver (who has recently been covering Epic closer, and standout track 'Love More' in his live shows). This sees a special Sunday (pre-Valentines!) one-off eagerly anticipated UK show before a personal invite sees her tour Europe with The National.
