DUB PISTOLS SOUNDSYSTEM
Barry Ashworth the man behind the Dub Pistols have spent the best part of a decade at the forefront of Beats culture. From their early singles for Concrete Records to their genre defying 'Six Million Ways To Live' long player to the last album Rum & Coke the Dub Pistols have always added a much needed Rock n Roll swagger to the UK's dance scene. If you have been to a festival anywhere in Europe in the last few years you would of seen the Dub Pistols Live. Chewing up hip-hop, dub, techno, ska and punk and spitting them out in a renegade futuristic skank they have consistently defied categorisation and exceeded the highest of expectations.
When not out with the Live band with main man Barry Ashworth on the decks and FX joined by Jay–Tuns on the mic Last year has seen them visit Glastonbury, Bestival, Rockness, Beat Herder, Boomtown, Lounge On The Farm, Blissfields, Dour and Kendal Calling festivals, while also playing live in Dubai, Singapore, Poland, Italy, the Czech Republic, Hungary, France, Switzerland, Portugal, Rumania, Ukraine, Germany, Ireland and Austria
2011 see’s the Dub Pistols are embarking on their latest project ‘Rehashed’ which is aimed squarely at the dance floor. ‘Rehashed’ is an album in which a number of high-profile remixers tackle classic Dub Pistols tracks from their last three albums. Ex-Leftfield man Paul Daley has re-made the second album’s title track, lilting stone cold classic ‘Six Million Ways To Live’, into a new wave electroid roller. The faultless remix album of classic Dub Pistols tracks also features Matt Bushwacka!, 2 Bit Thugs, our very own Ben & Lex, Kouncil House, Dancefloor Outlaws and many more all on remix duties.
The ‘ReHashed’ album will precede the release of the next full Dub Pistols album – their fifth – on Rob Da Bank’s Sunday Best label in May 2011.
