HDIF Presents XI
Thursday June 8th
Sportique/Salty Pirates/The Cut-Outs
The Windmill, Blenheim Gardens Brixton
7.30pm, £5
Sportique
Another troupe of indie pop legends for HDIF Presents! Fronted by former Razorcuts singer Gregory Webster, Sportique combine the awkward romanticism of the Razorcuts with the playful new wave spirit of Swell Maps and the Subway Sect. “Like the Kinks and the Television Personalities, Sportique are boldly, defiantly English,” reckoned Careless Talk Costs Lives.

Salty Pirates
Another troupe of Swedish indie pop stars-to-be for HDIF Presents! A five piece from Gothenburg, Salty Pirates infuse the infectious, ramshackle pop of early Pavement with their own gloriously sarcastic spirit. Their “Black Minds, White Lies” has already been a dancefloor smash at HDIF, so we’re really looking forward to seeing them making their UK debut at HDIF Presents!

The Cut-Outs
The Cut-Outs feature members of Airport Girl, The Fat Tulips and The Lucksmiths and play garage rock for pop kids with short, daft guitar solos and an unerring ear for a tune. And with a member of London’s all-girl 60s dance troupe The Actionettes on drums, there's always at least one band member on the beat.
