MAPLE MARS:
Arriving by time machine from the psychedelic era Maple Mars landed on the Los Angeles pop scene with a multi-colored bang! Fronted by ex-Double Naught Spies singer-songwriter Rick Hromadka, their psychedelic pop/rock debut album "Welcome To Maple Mars" (Permanent Press Recordings) was recorded in guitarist Steve Bern's apartment. Industry mags such as Billboard, Album Network, Mojo, Hits Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, and many online publications touted the album as one of the best indie pop-rock records of that year. As their journey progressed Maple Mars recorded three more albums borrowing stylings from bands like Pink Floyd, The Who, and the Beatles.
Their fourth album "Galaxyland" released in March of this year has currently received much college/internet radio play, as well as rave reviews ("A psychedelic masterpiece" - Twirl Radio) and may be their most acclaimed album yet. Their new Christmas song "Christmastime In The City" was picked up by The Play Network and played in several major retail stores over the 2010 holiday season.
"Rick Hromadka plaintively spins a holiday tale of Christmas in California, set to an absolutely unforgettable melody with superb backing vocals. One of the finest songs I've heard this year in any genre, to be sure. " - John Borack (Author of John Lennon: Life Is What Happens).
Drummer Ron Pak, guitarist Steve Berns, and bassist Trevor Zimmerman are the travelers who, along with Rick Hromadka, who is also a three time Emmy award winning sound designer, have taken their influences to new territories as shown in their latest video "Starting Over (Again)" which was directed by Mark Helfrich (Dandy Warhols). Maple Mars' have released tracks on various pop compilation albums from Australia, Japan, Sweden, and the US, and have been featured on several TV shows like Friday Night Lights, Life, ER, Third Watch, and Felicity.
The band has toured in America and England, and has shared the stage with The Silver Sun Pickups, Phantom Planet, Tommy Stinson, Persephone's Bees, The Offspring, and Rilo KIley.
