land through work, leisure, and discovery.
Including a rare screening of British Free Cinema classic WINSTANLEY (‘75)
following the trials and tribulations of 17th century social reformer and writer
Gerrard Winstanley who, along with small band of followers The Diggers, tried
to establish a self-sufficient farming community on common land. PLUS new
short films: childhood dilemma’s in ‘Tom & Esther Learn Lessons, and fresh from
Screen South’s ARCHIVIA exhibition the spellbinding time travel document ‘The
Pickers’.
Playing live alongside will be multi-instrumentalist ROBERT STILLMAN (
www.robertstillman.com). His set will include a new score to rare screening of
1910’s mesmerising time-lapse silent short BIRTH OF A FLOWER.
The event will finish promptly at 2230, allowing plenty of time for London folk to
catch the last trains back home.
