Purveyors of playful pop-cinema, The Nomad, invite you to a very special evening under canvas, in the dark. ‘Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die. It’s fun to be a vampire.’ So goes the tagline on the original poster for The Lost Boys…
The gyrating saxophone star on stage at the beginning of the trailer pretty much sums up the atmosphere of Joel Schumacher’s now cult classic comic book/vampire horror/soft rock promo crossover, which launched a young Jack Bauer and paired for our delight those 80s icons, the Two Coreys (Feldman and Haim).
A divorced mum (Diane Wiest) and her two sons (Jason Patric and Haim) become involved with a local gang when they move into the offbeat Northern California seaside town of Santa Clara. They soon discover that this gang has fangs. Kiefer Sutherland leads the leather-clad pack of bloodsucking bikers, a would-be suitor isn’t quite what he seems, Grandpa proves rather unhelpful and there’s a little cameo for none other than Bill S. Preston Esquire…
So get your big hair on, go heavy on the eyeliner and for god’s sake bring that sax, for an evening of mid-80s west coast nostalgia, as The Nomad continues its neverending pop-up cinema tour, most fittingly in the slightly wild and off-kilter surroundings of Zippos Circus Big Top. Look out for the Lost Boy and behold your own future with our resident Soothsayer...
There’s a licensed bar on site, selling delicious, dark red, er wine, plenty of garlic on the onion rings at Zippos hot snack bar and some long lost members of the Frog clan will be patrolling the area for safety. Was that a creature of the night hanging on that trapeze…?
