The Electronic Exchange is the collaborative musical project of Najia Bagi and Tullis Rennie. Releasing their first EP last year on Concrete Moniker, they played their first gig in Manchester to critical acclaim. So far, so ordinary. But the concept behind the project is perhaps indicative of future ways of making music: they do so remotely, and entirely via the Web. Najia is based in Manchester, and Tullis in Barcelona. The first time they ever played together in person was at their first gig.
In this exclusive project for FutureEverything, The Electronic Exchange were interested in extending the reach of their compositional narrative to involve mainstream and classical musicians – including members of the esteemed Manchester Camerata Chamber Orchestra. Themes of playful experimentation, remote working and festival as lab will culminate at FutureEverything Festival, as the artists all meet for the first time to perform together a series of pieces that they have been developing in an online space.
