A Glimpse Of Paradise and the Star And Shadow Cinema present 'BLUE VEILS AND GOLDEN SANDS': a celebration of DELIA DERBYSHIRE and the BBC RADIOPHONIC WORKSHOP featuring rare and previously unseen film w/ live music and DJs 'til late
FILM: 'THE DELIAN MODE' ( Dir.KARA BLAKE / 2010 )
THE DELIAN MODE is a short experimental documentary revolving around the life and work of the unsung BBC RADIOPHONIC heroine and electronic music pioneer DELIA DERBYSHIRE, best known for her groundbreaking sound treatment and realisation of the famous DOCTOR WHO theme music. A collage of sound and image created in the spirit of Derbyshire’s unique approach to audio creation
and manipulation, this film illuminates such soundscapes onscreen while paying tribute to a woman whose work has influenced electronic musicians for decades.
The film features interviews with Brian Hodgson and Dick Mills of the now defunct BBC Radiophonic Workshop, the founder of Electronic Music Studios Peter Zinovieff, musicians Peter Kember (Sonic Boom), Adrian Utley (Portishead) and Ann Shenton (Add N to X) as well as other friends and colleagues of Delia.

FILM: 'CIRCLE OF LIGHT' (The Photography Of Pamela Bone)
This extraordinarily beautiful film without words is composed from using PAMELA BONE'S unique photographic transparencies and it's soundtrack provided by DELIA DERBYSHIRE and ELSA STANSFIELD. Her talent has been said to 'push photography beyond its own limits, liberating it to the status of an entirely creative art form.' Inspired by nature, and being more responsive to feeling than to thought, Miss Bone has sought to express the mystery and beauty of the inner vision through photographic means alone: landscape has the quality of a dream; children on the sea-shore have a sense of their own enchantment, trees are forboding and strange when night moves in their arms. It took Miss Bone twenty years to find the right technique and to overcome the limitations that photography would impose.
