LEAFCUTTER JOHN

Yorkshire come London lad, John Burton has graced the planet with his remarkable contributions to electronic, folk and experimental music since his primary exploring with an old computer he originally bought to write his Art School dissertation in 1998. Since then he's released 5 critically acclaimed albums which combine elements of music-concrete and electro-acoustic music with voice and guitar work more commonly found in folk music.

He is currently developing interactive electronic music instruments for use in performance which combine traditional instruments with varied and unexpected electronic twists.

His forth album "The Forest and the Sea" (Staubgold) became a great success for artist and label alike and was nominated for best album (Quartz award 2007), with it he toured extensively throughout Europe and Australasia performing alongside; Matmos, Nick Cave, Keith Fullerton Whitman, Jarvis Cocker, Yo La Tengo, Grace Jones, Beth Orton, Otomo Yoshihide, Aki Onda, Phillip Jeck, Carsten Nicolai, Tujiko Noriko amongst others.

SIMON BOOKISH & LEAFCUTTER JOHN

Simon Bookish is Leo Chadburn, a vocalist, composer and producer whose music strays between pop and something more experimental. He has released three albums, including the "big bang song cycle about science and information" Everything/Everything (Tomlab).

Simon Bookish + Leafcutter will be performing delicate new versions of the Bookish back catalogue, re-imagined for live piano and live electronics.

"...In a musical economy where ideas are the sole currency, Simon Bookish would be doing the Scrooge McDuck backstroke through a pool of cartoon coins right about now. The man's recordings abound in little innovations, both sonic and lyrical.." (Pitchfork)

MANDELBROT SET

Combining influences from David Pajo's seminal 'Papa M' project, to the density of Sunn O))'s bowel shaking sound and the micro loops of Steve Reich, yet processed and shaped into the syntax and language of something altogether more electronic sounding. Mandelbrot Set create a massive pulsing noise that resonates between harmony and dischord.
