Harry Eastwood is co founder of Petit Pois, a cake company that she set up with American business partner Ashley Maddox. With a company motto of 'Have your cake and eat it', Petit Pois proves that you can cut calories in cakes by replacing butter with a most unexpected secret ingredient - vegetables. Both gluten and lactose free, Petit Pois have half the calories and fat of 'normal' High-street cakes. What's more, it turns out that vegetables improve the texture of sponge cakes by giving them fluffiness, softness, moisture and a naturally longer shelf life without the use of any hidden 'nasties'. Additionally because you can't taste the courgette, pumpkin or beetroot inside Petit Pois cakes, you would never guess that they were made from vegetables in a million years.
Harry Eastwood is also a food writer and television personality best known for her role as presenter of the food series Cook Yourself Thin (2007). She has lived for many years in France and returned to Paris in 2009 to write her latest book The Skinny French Kitchen, a collection of 100 classic French recipes slimmed down to a fraction of their usual calorie count without robbing them of their flavour.
When she is not writing or working on Petit Pois, Harry can be found at food markets around Paris, tasting, testing and talking to food producers in her (native) French tongue.
The ticket includes a talk and demonstration with Harry Eastwood showing guests how to create three of her cakes. The experience ends with all guests being served Afternoon Tea including a selection of Harry Eastwood's cakes and a complimentary glass of bubbly.
