Event information

Bruce Gilbert as DJ Beekeeper
Bruce Gilbert co-founded and played guitar with Wire who released three albums at the end of the 70's that were quite popular. He has released many other works in collaboration and such solo albums as The Shivering Man (reissued this year) and Ab Ovo. For this event Bruce is resurrecting his DJ Beekeeper persona - a slightly different approach to the art of the disc jockey whereby other people's music is selected blindly and manipulated live. I've not used the word legendary yet as you should already know this.

Philip Jeck
With turntables and delay, Philip Jeck has produced some of the most radical and affecting music of recent years - a sensual, haunted and poignant redirection of plunderphonics that effortlessly captures and captivates, sending the listener on a very personal and intimate narrative in collective space. Signed to the incomparable Touch label, every performance is an entirely unique and special occasion and the exotic pylon is truly thrilled to present Philip at The Vortex..

Time Attendant
Radiophonic concrete. Analogue improvisation. Abstract warmth. Exploration through cracks in sound and time. Paul Snowdon paints instant parallel worlds with electronic brushstrokes, as radical, adrift and accessible as his equally extraordinary paintings.

Kemper Norton
A hybrid of seasonal decay, temporal malaise and the alien Cornish landscape, Kemper Norton present their sonically unique slutronics - "extensive drunktronic laments, granular pop, pagan death anthems, chirpy digitalis and electric crayon soundscapes".

Ship Canal
Debut live performance. Ship Canal is strung-out, disorientating northern working-class occultures filtered through micro-manifestos of theft, bile and loss. "Inverted nightmare rave. Drug dirge homesick apology."
