Event information

The Cutlery Drawer presents... MOULIN RAGE! A night of cabaret, music, and activism! All proceeds go to Rape Crisis South London.

THE DETAILS:
Wednesday 27th July 2011
The Dogstar (2nd floor - The Ballroom), 389 Coldharbour Lane, Brixton
Open 7-11:30pm, music 7:30-11pm
£6 waged, £4 unwaged

THE ACTS:
Lashings of Ginger Beer Time – radical queer feminist burlesque collective, combining musical theatre optimism with 21st-century political rage.
Bunny Morethan – feminist one-woman cabaret show who puts the ‘camp’ into ‘campaigning’
The Mechanisms – deliciously dramatic dieselpunk cabaret, blending traditional folk with a science-fiction edge
CN Lester – dashing pianist and singer-songwriter with a dark, low-fi style
Ruth Pearce - rocking DJ whose past sets include NUS Women's Conference, Reclaim the Night, and her own LGBTQ rock night Killer Queen

THE CAUSE:
Rape Crisis South London (aka RASASC – Rape And Sexual Abuse Support Centre) is London’s oldest rape crisis centre – and was, until 2010, London’s only rape crisis centre. RASASC runs a free national helpline which can be reached on 0808 802 9999 as well as in-person counselling services.

ACCESS INFO:
The Dogstar Ballroom is on the second floor, and does not have step-free access. Please accept The Cutlery Drawer's apologies for this. It is one level up, with two flights of stairs (21 steps in total) approximately 1.5m wide and a handrail going all the way up. The door is to the right of the ground floor bar.
There is one gender-neutral and wheelchair-accessible bathroom on the ground floor, on the left side of the bar: it is usually locked and opened only as required, but the venue has agreed to keep it unlocked for this event. There is a considerable amount of seating available in the Ballroom. There is no designated "quiet area" but efforts will be made on the night to make a quiet space available for those who require it.
If you have any access needs that have not been addressed, please get in touch.
