Her Name Is Calla

Her Name Is Calla have been referred to by Drowned In Sound as "one of the most daring, unconventional bands the UK has to offer". The band's sound ranges from "tender, acoustic and string-led arrangements, to an epic cacophony of floor toms, brass and guitars".

This year, Her Name is Calla released “The Quiet Lamb”, on Denovali Records. The band are known for their impressive live shows full of emotion, explosions of noise, and passages of the quietest, most gentle harmonies.

In addition to old songs the band will showcase new songs from the next studio album due to be released at the end of 2011 on Denovali Records.

Talons

Talons are not a post-rock band, nor are they a math rock band. Talons, are Talons. The six-piece are best experienced in a live environment, where the visceral, raw energy of their music can be fully appreciated.

Signed to UK independent label Big Scary Monsters, debut single ‘The Pearl’ was released in August 2009, followed by a series of limited edition split singles. An anthology containing all works by the band, entitled ‘Commemorations’ was released in September 2010.

In November 2010, Talons further consolidated their place amongst their peers following the release of their debut album, ‘Hollow Realm’. The album received widespread praise in the press, released in the UK and Europe on CD and in the USA on 12” Vinyl.

Work is now scheduled to begin on a follow up release to Hollow Realm.

Katie Malco

Katie recorded her debut E.P by herself at home with the vocal help of some musical friends. Its called Four Goodbyes and it was released on Skyeyesea records a while ago.

She has finished a new E.P. recorded with Iain Archer of such fame as Snow Patrol, Tired Pony, and Iain Archer. He is Irish and nice. This time it was not recorded at home, but in a church.
It will be released in October 2011 on Alcopop Records.
