Coo is dreaaaadfully excited to team up with Brighton based art folk chamber pop band The Miserable Rich to bring an extra specially eerie performance at spectacularly spooky Oxford Castle Unlocked! We'll be taking over the CRYPT, the CELLS and the prison EXHIBITION ROOM with some unearthly soundscapes, cadaverous performance poetry and mesmerising art installation by contemporary local artists!
Wander through the cells and see the exhibits and artifacts of the castle's grisly past interspersed with art and performance installation, and descend the rickety spiral staircase into the gruesome crypt to see what poetic pearls lurk below.. if you dare!
You'll be needing some Dutch courage to see you through (and warm you up!) so thankfully the castle cafe will be open serving up heart warming beverages of an alcoholic nature.
THE TOUR - THE ALBUM - THE SINGLE
The Miserable Rich call in at Oxford Castle on a fourteen date tour of the UK where they will be mystifying and unnerving victims in some very unusual venues.
The band's third album, Miss You In The Days, is released on Halloween - recorded in Britain's most haunted stately home, it is a collection of songs inspired by ghosts, poltergeists and other spooky goings-on.
The band are accompanied on the tour by performance poet Alabaster Deplume, who will be introducing each evening with a set of spine-chilling tales based on the songs from The Miserable Rich's album.
Funded partly by PRS and partly by fans through a successful (and still running) Pledge campaign, the tour begins with Arctic Circle's fancy dress Halloween Ball at Westminster Reference Library (a double header with The Real Tuesday Weld), and visits arts centres, churches and creepy railway arches;
James explains: "As an experience, how do you top recording an album in a Jacobean Palace, the birthplace of Ann Boleyn? We'd already decided to release the album at Halloween, and wanted to put together a tour to do it justice. So along with the choice of venues, we decided to add a dramatic element to the proceedings, with ghost stories, exclusive acoustic previews in spooky crypts, and a free mix tape for those getting into the spirit and dressing up.”
