Strange Beast & Willkommen Collective present . . . Laish + The Magic Lantern.

To accompany the free download release of Laish's 'She is Clever' on 5th December we're happy to announce a very special show in the stunning setting of the Proud Brighton Ballroom with an exclusive performance from the enchanting London based folk quintet The Magic Lantern. Yes we are spoiling you!

Laish are an integral member of the acclaimed Willkommen Collective, a thriving part of Brighton’s alternative folk scene. Influenced by folks like Bill Callahan, Jim O’Rouke and Grizzly Bear and sometimes compared to Herman Dune and James Yorkston, the band are known for playing honest, humble, humourous and uplifting songs.

The sound and style of The Magic Lantern has been compared to Sufjan Stevens, Devandra Buckhart, and even early Pink Floyd. They have a calm, defuse sound with interesting musical techniques, and even more interesting instrumentation. There are clarinets and violins as well as more traditional instruments, making a subtle and very English style of folk-cum-classical music.
