▲ The Lovely Eggs
The Lovely Eggs are an underground punk-rock duo from northern England and have a fierce punk rock ethos that music should have no rules. For them being in a band is a way of life. True to this, they live the way they play. Fiercely, constantly in search of the good times.
With observational and often surreal lyrics about life, The Lovely Eggs have a powerful stripped down sound: one vintage guitar amp, one Big Muff distortion pedal, a guitar and a drum kit.
Their dare-to-be different approach to music (producing everything from 4 minute spine chilling melodies about death to 10 second noise blasts about shit jobs) has seen them record sessions for BBC Radio One, BBC 6 Music and XFM as well as being played by Huw Stephens, Marc Riley, Steve Lamacq, Lauren Laverne, Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie, Shaun Keavney, Rob Da Bank, Tom Robinson, Gideon Coe, John Kennedy, Jon Hillcock and Tom Ravenscroft.
The Lovely Eggs have supported Shonen Knife, The Slits, The Television Personalities and Art Brut, recorded with the legendary Jad Fair and Gruff Rhys and John Shuttleworth have made cameo appearances in their videos.
They have become well known for their live performances and have played everywhere from Amsterdam squats and Los Angeles scrap yards to steam trains in Ripley and charity shops in Leeds!
'You won't hear another band like this anywhere between now and the the end of the millenium. The Lovely Eggs are just brilliant!' - Huw Stephens, Radio One
'They have the off the wall look that is perfect pop and the cutting stripped down dynamic of a cool art crew in love with underground rock n roll' - John Robb
'This my friends is fucking brilliant. It's grunge - but not as you know it' - Everett True
▲ King Twit
King Twit are Liverpool based purveyors of lively and supremely catchy alternative-indie-folk.
The band formed in late 2011 and quickly hit the road, blagging dates across Europe before returning to produce debut EP, Bicycle. Heavily indebted to the likes The Shins, Jonathon Richman & Captain Beefheart, accompanied by a mix of up tempo scratchy guitars, snappy percussion, wonderful brass and an unmistakably distinctive vocal drawl, the EP is lively, infectious, endearingly likeable.
'Incredibly infectious and catchy; they managed to achieve a fair balance between their folk influences and their pop hooks' - Liverpool Music
▲ Sheen
Sheen are a Dream Pop band with dashes of The Sundays and The Cocteau Twins running through their beautiful soundscapes luster. They feature Idle Fret's resident DJ Callum Brown on guitar.
