SHRAG - https://www.facebook.com/pages/Shrag/19167559456 // http://shrag.co.uk/
"The Brighton band Shrag's third album, released on Fortuna POP! on the 9th of July, could very easily have fallen under my radar. Canines is an album which makes me count myself lucky I am sent music which I have to listen to, an album bursting with imagination and immediacy, simultaneously abrasively destructive and intelligently creative. Vocalist Helen King, guitarist Bob Brown and co. have channelled scuzzy guitar-driven riot grrl energy and their lyrical wit and mischief into a set of excellent pop songs full of hooks and memorable choruses. Not only is the Shrag sound so invigoratingly different to that of any of their contemporaries, but this album is one of real diversity in a music scene where, in the band's own words, 'too many albums start the same, end the same and have the same sounding stuff in between'." EVANS THE DEATH - https://www.facebook.com/evansthedeath // http://evansthedeath.tumblr.com/
Evans the Death, who have just released their critically acclaimed debut album on Fortuna POP! and Slumberland records, make frenetic and infectious punk pop which exudes the kind of unbridled charisma, intelligence, and runaway energy that promises a singularly exciting future for the band. Comprising Dan Moss (guitar, vocals), Olly Moss (guitar), Katherine Whitaker (vocals, keys), Rob Mitson (drums), and Lan McArdle (bass), and named after the undertaker in Dylan Thomas's Under Milk Wood, Evans the Death are poised to fulfill their potential as one of the most refreshing and exhilarating new groups around.
"You can imagine Jarvis Cocker and Kate Jackson smiling beatifically at the thought of their music birthing Evans The Death... smart and gutsy, they manage to make the humdrum everyday existence sound quite magical." **** (Q Magazine)
CHIPS FOR THE POOR - https://www.facebook.com/ChipsForThePoor // http://www.chipsforthepoor.com/
"This is ace! Chips for the Poor appear to be going up in the world, recording this new seven with none other than Bobby Conn. 'Fistula' has got a drum machine beat, an afrobeat guitar line, and then a wall of fuzzy jangle and Mark E Smith-esque chanted vocals over the top of it. The intro's a bit Paul Simon but then it turns totally fucking smart, like Sauna Youth playing an Ian Dury song or something - infectious, intuitive melodies and dirty tones" Norman Records single of the week 25th May 2012)
