Saturday 15th September at 7.30pm. Proceeds will support Teesdale and
Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team - the church charity of the year
- and St Brandon’s. Book your tickets soon - Megson sell out fast! With local
support acts to whet our appetites, you will be in for a treat on the night,
whether you are a folk fan or not (yet!).
Here’s what the press say:
“Stu Hanna and Debbie Hanna-Palmer, better known as Megson, have steadily established their reputation as the two freshest, most original performers in the latest folk revival.” – Robin Denselow, THE GUARDIAN ****
“Traditional folk with a modern twist!” – Mick Houghton, UNCUT ****
“They’ve a vitality, a freshness and a rhythm that is as near to pop as folk.” – Laura Barton, BBC MUSIC
Megson are fast becoming hot property on the British folk and roots scene. Three times nominated in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, and winners of the 2010 Spiral Earth Awards, the husband and wife duo of Stu Hanna and Debbie Hanna hail from Teesside and draw heavily on this heritage to create their unique brand of folk music. Their infectious sound is a mix of heavenly vocals, lush harmonies and driving rhythmic guitars and mandolas. Blending traditional and modern stories of North East life in their four acclaimed albums, they delight audiences with their warmth and affection for this part of the country, its tales and its people.
Tickets: £12 or £10 concessions, from Rick Simpson at The Rectory, in person or phone (0191 380 0440), or email the church office: The Administrator - stbrandonchurch@btconnect.com
There will be a raffle, and wine for sale on the night. Join us for a great night of folk, and help us raise money for great causes too!
