'An Architectural Graphic Novel,' Jimenez Lai's first book showcases the architect's visual, narrative and imaginative flair for creating "absurd stories about fake realities that invite enticing possibilities." Expanding the borders of how architecture is represented, and exploding architectural speculation and theory into outer space and back, the book weaves Lai's writing and experimental installations amongst his extensive comic storyboards, in an investigation of architectural imagination.
Lai's work frequently takes the form of speculative architectural propositions in comic book form, that gain resolution in real world installations and built projects - from rotating floor plates for zero gravity to performative parametricism. Citizens of No Place catalogues Lai's ongoing investigations, in a collision of paper architecture and the graphic novel.
Join us in Three Little Worlds for the UK book launch of Citizens of No Place, when Jimenez will be in conversation about the book and his AF installation, with FAT and Strange Harvest's Sam Jacob.
* A selected number of free ticktes are available for AF members. Members should please email members@architecturefoundation.org.uk to reserve their place.
