Event information

The Golden Lab Records festival of exploratory, celebratory, ecstatic music is back after a hiatus of more than two years. Open your third eye with...

MV & EE WITH THE HOME COMFORT SOUND SYSTEM (Woodsist/Ecstatic Peace)

A spectral cinematic show from the visionary American free-folk duo. Blending and bending acoustic folk jams with rock and psych, the Vermont-based couple of Matt 'MV' Valentine and Erika 'EE' Elder graze upon the fields laid down by The Grateful Dead and Gene Clark, and swim in the depths with Loren Connors and The Dead C. They have created a body of work that has warmed many a soul through nigh on 200 releases and thousands of exploratory live shows.

AMEN DUNES (Brooklyn, NY - Sacred Bones)

"immediately evokes inner-space travelers like Syd Barrett, Roky Erickson, and Skip Spence." - Pitchfork

Celebrated solo project of Brooklyn resident Damon McMahon whose work straddles the dissonant, spectral early work of Royal Trux and '80s/'90s New Zealand visionary Peter Jeffries. Beautiful, gnarled, haunting and absolutely essential.

THE TACO BELLS - Finnish free jazz masters with shifting line-up that occasionally incorporates the genius jouhikko playing of free-folk hero Pekko Kappi.

MIK QUANTIUS - legendary vocalist from germany, best-known for his vocal work with german prog/kraut rockers Embryo. Amazing solo performer with a killer solo record just out.

DAGORA - Experimental improvised ensemble from Amsterdam. Two drummers and Peter Quistgard circuit bending kids' toys, keyboards and synths, other home-made instruments... Heavy wash of cymbals and crazy drums combined echoed vocals and loads of space sounds. For this tour they will be joined by Manuel Padding from Denhaag on vocals, best known for his project "City Hands" and tape label "Silver Ghosts".

WHOLE VOYALD INFINITE LIGHT - guitar trade-off gusto shredders from London and the High Peak

CHALAQUE - wild guitar playing with drum machines and arpeggiated accompaniment from Manchester, last seen playing as part of The Michael Flower Band and in Rhys Chatham's Guitar Trio

SLY & THE FAMILY DRONE - Unifiers of audience and band from Leeds who hand out instruments to crowd and MAKE the party

ROMAN NOSE - Duo of Jon Marshall (Vampire Blues, ex-Hunter Gracchus) and Charlie Collins [ex-Clock DVA (Cabaret Voltaire affiliates)] playing wild, improvised drums and strings. Hold onto your hats!

ALDOUS RH - expanded solo project of Alex Hewett (also of Egyptian Hip-Hop). Slowed-down hypnogogic pop with fluid proto-funkisms and a slickness that belies the underlying craziness to the song structures.

+ DJs til well into the A.M.
