MEMORY DRAWINGS - Leeds/Morocco/Newcastle [Second Language Music]
http://www.secondlanguagemusic.com/SL016.html

Memory Drawings is the beguiling, drum-less project of Morocco-based hammered dulcimer player Joel Hanson, ex-Hood (Domino Records) guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Richard Adams and Lanterns on the Lake/Brave Timbers violinist Sarah Kemp. Partly inspired by Adams' native West Yorkshire landscape, the trio's debut album 'Music For Another Loss' (Second Language Music) maps the contours between brooding melancholy and redemptive calm. Their musical signature simultaneously suggests both classical minimalism and hearth-side folk, but, tantalizingly, is never quite either. Their connections run deep too - a remix disc of the album features Rachel Grimes (of Rachel's), Bracken (Anticon) and Piano Magic.

riverrun - Manchester
http://danielland.bandcamp.com/album/pentimento

riverrun is the solo ambient project of Daniel Land of the Modern Painters and this will be the Manchester/Salford debut. Taking its name from the famous opening line of James Joyce's modernist masterpiece Finnegan's Wake, riverrun is a series of 'secret' ambient recordings that Land has been working for over a decade in parallel to his songs. The end result of the compositional process is an aural canvas of almost unimaginable complexity, whose deeper level of subliminal detail (sometimes literally hundreds of layers of sound are running concurrently) belies the surface simplicity of the music.

J. COLLIN - High Peak [Winebox Press]
http://soundcloud.com/winebox-press

J. Collin runs the Winebox Press label (issuing tapes beautifully wrought inside reclaimed wood boxes) and plays in the improvising outfits Whole Voyald Infinite Light, Serfs and Vampire Blues. Solo he plays beautiful, fragmentary guitar pieces, described by no less than the Wire recently as "Totally wonderful lonesome acoustic scrambles, like a more reflective Bill Orcutt".

Please note doors are 7.30pm for this show - as it's a Sunday night we're aiming for a 10.30pm finish. First act at 8pm sharp.
