The Flaming Stars formed in 1994 by lead singer and ex Gallon Drunk drummer Max Décharné, Huck Whitney, Mark Hosking, Paul Dempsey, and Joe Whitney. They first gained attention in Europe on releasing their EP 'Hospital, Heaven or Hell' which received praise from John Peel and Steve Lamacq. They've recorded seven Peel Sessions, seven studio LPs and fourteen singles.
"fuses garage punk and spaghetti western twang with a bit of Tom Waits thrown in for good measure- a mix which has gained them a sizeable cult following both at home and in Europe"- Music Week

Will Hung and John Procter began I Ludicrous mid 80s, gaining notoriety when debut release 'Preposterous Tales' reached number 11 in Peel's Festive Fifty. Martin Brett (Voice of The Beehive) joined in 2008. If you missed their last Brighton gig back in June this one's a must.

Helen McCookerybook, bass player with 1977 Brighton punk group Joby and the Hooligans, formed The Chefs two years later. Loved by Peelie, he also loved her next band, Helen and the Horns who recorded three sessions for his show. After a 20 year break, Helen's back as a solo artist, with three CDs (Suburban Pastoral, Poetry and Rhyme and Take One) plus a co-release with Martin Stephenson (Hamilton Square) all available from voiceprint.co.uk.
