THE WOODBINE & IVY BAND
http://www.folkpolicerecordings.com/woodbine--ivy-band.html
The Woodbine & Ivy Band is a group of Manchester musicians who came together to arrange and perform the ten traditional songs that make up their debut self-titled album; highly acclaimed by Mojo, The Guardian and the Sunday Times, who praised "A superb set of traditional British songs played in a pedal-steel-label early-1970s west coast style." Amongst their influences, the Woodbine & Ivy Band cite the music of Sandy Denny, John Martyn, The Byrds, Pentangle, Crazy Horse and the drone rock of Spaceman 3.
SPROATLY SMITH
Incorporating traditional folk, found sounds and English psychedelia into their music, Sproatly Smith are denizens of of the folklore-soaked borderlands of Herefordshire. Their third album, 'The Minstrel's Grave' was released by Folk Police Recordings in April 2012.
RAPUNZEL & SEDAYNE
Playlisted by fRoots, who placed it at number 14 in their 2011 Critics Poll, 'Songs From The Barley Temple' is the current album by Rapunzel & Sedayne and comprises mainly traditional songs and ballads along with a handful of originals. The album features stripped down, raw instrumentation and almost telepathic vocal interplay. Many of the songs featured - including 'Handsome Molly', 'Silver Dagger' and 'Diver Boy' - are sourced from the Max Hunter Collection - an incredible archive of field recordings made by an American travelling salesman in the 1950s and 60s.
