GUM TAKES TOOTH (London | ADAADAT / Tigertrap Records)

Gum Takes Tooth, a thunderous rampage of bass heavy noise tempered with an aptitude for focused rhythms and splintered melody, centres around a single-headed beast with two bodies: a duo of Thomas Fuglesang on live acoustic drums, physically wired into home grown electronic instruments, bare circuit boards, tweaked, moulded and mangled in real-time by Jussi Brightmore. Gum Takes Tooth are also regularly joined for live double-drum kit action by Valentina Magaletti.

In fresh sonic territory located somewhere between the Load Records noise-rock attack popularised by Lightning Bolt and the galactic frequency exploration of the Silver Apples, the group decisively bring together their influences of out-there Noise, Grindcore, Sludge Metal, Psych, Minimalist music and vintage electronic music on their debut 7" vinyl pressing Young Mustard/Lofty Thatch released on ADAADAT RECORDS (DJ Scotch Egg, Gay Against You, Agoskodo Televerek) 24th May. The release has a limited pressing of 300, each one with a unique hand screen printed fold-out poster cover. The début album has an expected release in summer 2010 on TIGER TRAP RECORDS. In the near future exclusive tracks will be included on a forthcoming release on DEATHBOMB ARC RECORDS (Health, Foot Village, Kevin Shields, Thurston Moore, Gang Wizard) and on other limited pressing labels.

Nope are inspired by psychedelic repetitive and primitive sludge the like of which will be dredged from the River Air following the collapse of the industrial world in 2068. Our music attempts to convey the rhythms and pace of life experienced on the cusp of the birth of the machine age. We are equal parts Spinning Jenny, nano technology and undiscovered bio-fuel.
