THE LOVES
From Cardiff, The Loves mix pop psychedelia and C86 indie with a dash of Jack Daniels and beatnik cool. They released their debut single on Radio One DJ Huw Stephens’ Boobytrap Singles Club in May 2001 and then 2 singles, an EP and an LP with the esteemed Track And Field Organisation between September 2001 and February 2004. They also recorded 4 Peel Sessions in 2 years (1 of which was broadcast live from Peel Acres on Valentine’s Day 2002), and sessions for Marc Riley on BBC 6Music and BBC Radio Wales. Their second album “Technicolour” was released on Fortuna POP! in February and was made Album Of The Week by The Sunday Times.
'A wide-eyed retro-chic indie-pop sextet that sound like The Monkees playing at being The Velvet Underground.' - NME

ROY MOLLER
As Belle And Sebastian fans may know, Roy Moller has collaborated with Stevie Jackson on songs such as Seymour Stein, Chickfactor, Traveling Light, I Took A Long Hard Look and Portland Oregon. Another collaboration, Roy Walker, is named after Roy and his nocturnal roams around Glasgow. Along with his Belle And Sebastian connections Roy is a former member of Meth O.D. a band he formed with Golden Dawn frontman Rob Smith, and NME-lauded instrumental outfit The Wow Kafe. Having previously released singles on the Felicite, Pickled Egg and Heliotone labels, his debut album Speak When I'm Spoken To, with guitar and production assistance from Jackson and B&S’s Bob Kildea, was recently released on Book Club Records.
"Shameless genius songwriting...60s influenced, killer melodies, proper choruses and hooks to make you wet yourself. Twice" (The Winchester Club)

FRIENDS OF THE BRIDE
The dapper Friends of The Bride are from Raynes Park and use the 'Camden Format' of instrumentation; guitar, bass, drums, cheap synthesiser and vocals. They aren't good enough musicians to play west coast jazz, so they play London-style indie-rock instead. The lyrical leitmotif is skits of current social mores. Described as a "perfectly balanced cocktail of finger-snapping, Ratpack croon and irresistible fuzz garage stomp" by Kitten Painting, they had only been in existence for a few months when they were hand-picked by a panel of Alan McGee, Chas Smash and Gary Crowley to share the stage with The Who at the BBC’s Electric Proms.
"I love these guys... swingin', finger-clickin'...cool bop and swing. they look damn cool... Raynes Park's answer to the Rat Pack” (Gary Crowley, BBC London)

THE SCHOOL
Formed by Liz of The Loves as a side-project, The School sound like genuine contenders to us: a swoonsome waltz through the best bits of Belle & Sebastian, Camera Obscura, and 60s girl groups. You may have seen them recently stealing the show from Lucky Soul and Saturday Looks Good To Me at only their second ever gig!
