A Gluten-free Afternoon Tea

Event information

An afternoon tea served on vintage china and tablelinens at a secret address, that's a secret vintage tea party. The secret part is the exact address, which you'll be told a few days before the party. But to give you a clue, it's the dining room of a private home, an 18th century former farmhouse near Altrincham, Cheshire (accessible both by car and public transport).

All our afternoon teas are hand made and freshly prepared and this one will be no different, except for the fact that everything will be gluten-free to suit a Coeliac diet (either using naturally gluten-free foods or gluten-free substitutes e.g. bread, but as homemade as we can make it)*. Baking by trained pastry chef Gwyneth Brock, with guest chef Shirley Quarmby who is a veteran of gluten-free tea parties hosted at her secret tea room in Saltaire, Chez Shamwari.

The tea will consist of lashings of leaf tea (or fresh coffee), finger sandwiches and savouries, scones with clotted cream and jam and a selection of tea-time cakes and fancies. There's always plenty to eat, in fact remember not to eat lunch beforehand!
