Good Sex presents a month of audible sex kicking off with three of the UK’s hottest emerging acts. When the bands are this good, it counts as aural pleasure so be prepared: these guys will cause you an augasm.

BRETON live
Breton are an inscrutable bunch of musicians and award-winning indie film-makers with, we are told, "cutting-edge video and sound design work under their belts" for the likes of Temper Trap, Penguin Prison and Tricky. Performing shrouded in black hoods, lit only by the glow of their homemade, self-shot movies, which are cut and edited live by their touring-only fifth member as the four musicians play, variously, guitars, bass, synths, drums and laptops they create an intriguing sort of dubsteppy but poppy art-rock-cum-cinematic electronica. Or maybe think of Breton as a multimedia Massive Attack with some of the noir ambience you'd expect from a group signed to FatCat and some of the pop energy of Friendly Fires. Breton also remind us of a latterday Wire, not so much sonically but in terms of attitude, the sense that they have interests and abilities across several media.

NEW DESERT BLUES live
Believe it or not, New Desert Blues are from the sunny shores of the UK’s south coast. Their music though, paints a rather different picture. The band carve a sound that stems from thousands of miles across the globe. Think, tumbleweed floating across dusty trails and saloon doors swaying all set against isolated western landscapes and you’re on the right tracks. Their music feels as though it should be soundtracking some sort of great western adventure movie. Their moody yet melodic, down-trodden tones trundle along with boy/girl vocals that lift their atmospheric, sound. The five-piece appear to name their songs as children. New Desert Blues have already supported NME favourites PEACE and Gabriel Bruce. It looks like it could be a big year for these guys.

DEFAULT COLLECTIVE live
A compelling mixture of soft spiralling vocals and dark moody beats, the songs are sinister and haunting, their intricate lyrics evoking gritty film scenes of underworlds and gangsters. They pull you down to nothingness then fling you up with their intense cinematic explosions.
