This performance will see Soothsayers performing ‘Lost City’ in its entirety for the first time ever, plus highlights from their more recent work.
Soothsayers burst onto the scene ten years ago with their seminal debut CD, ‘Lost City’, a fantastic blend of jazz and Afrobeat, which has been lauded as one of the best British crossover jazz albums of the past decade. Since then, they have gone from strength to strength, playing everywhere from Glastonbury to North Sea Jazz Festival, collaborating with special guest musicians and releasing four more albums.
'Now and again an album comes apparently out of nowhere that hits you straight between the ears. Lost City – a joyful, funky set mixing township jazz, dub reggae and jazz-funk – is one such recording' The Times
‘Rarely have I been so impressed by a British debut as this, so totally seduced and utterly smitten by a record from almost the first play that I can't wait to describe it's innumerable qualities' Jazz Review
‘A dance floor ready combination of cascading horn riffs and melodies, punchy improvisation, interlocking guitar lines and infectious rhythms’ Jazzwise Magazine
Musicalist (aka Derek Johnson) will be showcasing his new original music, weaving influences from around the world.
