Preston’s Bus Station becomes the venue for a remarkable storytelling event on Saturday March 23rd. A Journey to the End of the World transforms the controversial building into the backdrop to London writer and director Phil Ormrod’s new work ‘An Hour Before the End of the World’, especially commissioned by They Eat Culture for this event. But this isn’t all...
Members of Preston-based grime and drum n’ bass MC collective Shotta TV will be your hosts for the evening, leading you from one performance to the next. You’ll find that Tyneside’s edgy Noize Choir have created a ten minute experimental sound piece using unusual objects, especially created for the acoustics of the Preston landmark.
You’ll experience exceptional poetry performed by Manchester’s acclaimed Shamshad Khan, as heard on Radio 4 and published everywhere from Flame to Longman’s GCSE Poems for Your Pocket and new live prose from Preston/Manchester author David Hartley, of Dark Fiction Magazine and Rainy City Stories, who’s also one fifth of Manchester writing collective #Flashtag.
The trail ends at the Bus Station’s café for Phil Ormrod’s piece, the focal point and centrepiece of the event, where two old people in the cafe are an hour away from the end of the world, seeing apocalyptical events unfold.
