Hither Green Cinema is turning Japanese.
Kick the evening off in style with a Kendo demonstration and free 20 minute Karate lesson by the Lewisham Shotokan Karate Centre [lskc.co.uk], followed by a screening of Zatoichi.
Critically acclaimed, Zatoichi is colourful, rich with action and beautifully composed. The film follows the journey of a blind masseur and master swordsman, with powerful sequences and stunning choreography. Writer-director-actor Takeshi Kitano takes on this classic samurai character with his own brand of cinematic flair. Effortless and uncontrived, Zatoichi is pure cinematic magic.
For the full Japanese immersive experience, we’ve chosen the one with subs. So don’t forget your specs.
Delicious cakes and treats will be on sale, as well as tea and coffee and the usual array of Meantime Beers, red and white wines.
We would like to thank The Shotokan Karate Centre in Lewisham for their support and dedication to this event. The primary objective of the Centre is to teach and foster the development of authentic Shotokan Karate. This is achieved under the leadership of the head instructor Sensei Roy Tomlin 6th Dan JKA
