Event information

Oliver Wilde
Initially arming himself with just one microphone, a guitar and a combination of internal conflicts, Oliver Wilde's sound is stacked up with whispering guitar riffs, fragile vocal layers, slurring lap- steels, 8-bit tape loops, sanguine strings and DIY drum samples, leading to a lo-fi commotion of emotional outbursts and swirling sonic turbulence, washed down with moments of hushed delicacy that evoke the ghosts of his never-met mentors.

Describing his own serene musical style, Oliver Wilde scratches his temple and delves deep. "Downer pop? Tinsel rock maybe? Lo-fi glitchtronica?".

The album 'A Brief Introduction To Unnatural Lightyears' will be released on 22nd July through Howling Owl Records on limited edition, hand crafted Vinyl, Compact Disc and Download.

Bethany Weimers
London born, Oxford raised alt-folk artist Bethany Weimers, spent much of 2011 as a bit of a hermit, performing, recording and producing her debut album 'Harpsichord Row'. The result is a beautifully atmospheric collection of songs with both folk and pop appeal, that draw the listener in with hooky melodies belying their darker content, poignantly exploring the human condition whilst remaining uplifting and life affirming.

Bethany has steadily been building a reputation as a stunning live performer for several years and with Harpsichord Row she has now created something equally mesmerizing on record. Her background in composition (she has a masters degree from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama) and time spent working as an audio restoration engineer are both evident, as is her passion for story-telling and the craft of songwriting. Influences include The Civil Wars, PJ Harvey and Warpaint and fans have likened her to artists such as Amanda Palmer and Marissa Nadler.

The August List
Hailing from Dorset and now residing in a small barn perched on a hill in Oxfordshire, The August List are a boy / girl two-piece who play 'backwards country / porch folk' with a startling rock 'n' roll attitude.

Acoustic guitars, kick drums, harmonicas and their voices are deployed with verve and passion on songs that take in life, love, death and making merry.

Their debut EP, 'Handsome Skin', was released in November 2012 on Ubiquity Project Records. Words used by people to describe this recording include: 'haunting', 'full of grit and soul, fire and fog', 'beautiful' and 'creepy'. The August List hope it is all these things.

Doors 8pm, Stage times TBC.
