Performance poetry: comedy’s boring cousin, right? Stand up: poetry’s idiot relation, yes? Let’s find out! For the first time, the very best of London’s spoken word scenes go head-to-head as comedy and poetry collide with unpredictable and hilarious results.
Chatback Comedy Club and Canterbury’s poet laureate Dan Simpson are proud to announce the first London run of their brand new format show Stand Up & Slam! Six phenomenal acts from the worlds of comedy and poetry go face-to-face for your approval in three killer rounds of Stand Up Comedy Vs Performance Poetry.
Hosted by Team Captains - poet DAN SIMPSON (Canterbury poet laureate, 'a spot on host' god is in the tv) and comedian PAUL SWEENEY (Currently supporting Doc Brown on tour, 'intriguing and memorable' - Chortle) - the show is jam packed full of top class performers presenting specially prepared material, onstage ad libbed battles and some tongue in cheek banter. The winners? Whoever the audience decide are really, truly the best art form of the night!
Featuring top acts from the UK's spoken word and stand up circuit - performers include Daniel Simonsen (Fosters Comedy Award Best Newcomer 2013), Tom Deacon (Radio 1 DJ, The Rob Brydon Show), Joel Dommett (BBC3’s Impractical Jokers), Thom Tuck (BBC Radio 4 Thom Tuck goes straight to DVD), Keith Jay (UK Poetry Slam Champ), Rob Auton (‘A talent to watch’ The Independent) and many more exciting names to be announced soon!
