Oxjam in the Round with Family Machine

Daisy Rodgers Music is collaborating with this year’s Oxjam Music Festival (raising money for Oxfam) to bring you a unique and special night at the beautifully refurbished Blue Room at the St Aldates Tavern, Oxford . No mics, no amps, no stage, as the musicians will be playing unplugged, in the centre of the room. This is Oxjam in the round. It’s gonna be special.

Space and tickets are limited so be sure to grab yourself an advanced ticket and come along to this extra special night with 100% of your ticket price going to support the fantastic work that Oxfam does around the world and in the UK.

Doors are at 8pm with the first music at 8.20pm. There will be no stage times (as we don’t have a stage!) and there will be a number of surprises during the night. It should all be finished by 10.30pm. 18+ and a bar is available (upstairs or downstairs). Big thanks to all the bands and artists that have signed up so far.......

Family Machine
“Oxfordshire’s finest acoustic –indie-pop band”
Family Machine have been on the Oxford scene for a few years and have produced some of the mostly beautifully crafted acoustic, indie pop tunes around – a bit like Badly Drawn Boy meets Turin Brakes. One member of Team Panda once climbed up a tree in South Park to grab a free copy of their debut album. It was worth it - download for free their super ace new track ‘Skeletons & That’ or track down ‘Reminds me of you’. A must see live band.

The August List
“Haunting folk duo in the style of Trevor Moss & Hannah-Lou”
The August List hail from Dorset and now reside in “a small barn perched on a hill in Oxfordshire.” They are a boy / girl two-piece who play ‘backwards country / porch folk’ with a startling rock ‘n’ roll attitude and recently did a session for BBC Introducing. Citing influences such as the Low Anthem and The White Stripes, they’ve already produced an impressive debut EP with a track that’s got into our top 10 Oxfordshire tracks of the year – Forty-Rod of Lightnin.

James from Alphabet Backwards
“Lead singer of Oxfordshire’s best indie-sunshine-pop exponents”
James plays a rare solo show, stripping back Alphabet Backwards’ brilliant indie-pop tracks. Alphabet Backwards are one of our favourite Oxfordshire bands, his set is likely to be what Damien Rice would sound like if he drank a lot of Panda Pops! Purchase their Little Victories album or check out some of our favourites – “Blink of an eye”, “Taller”, “Big Top”, “Polar Bears” or “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”.

Ella Martini
“Laura Marling + Ellie Goulding with a sprinkling of Jessie Ware”
Ella is one of the new breed of singers who are making their way in the musical world via youtube uploads. However just one listen to any of her covers tells you she is a cut above all the other teenagers on the interweb. Her potential is massive, so make sure you catch her set in the unique surroundings of the St Aldates Tavern as she begins to make her way in the live music scene.
