Out Now
The Domino State released their first single ‘Iron Mask’ in September via London live night / record label Club AC30.
From the opening dub-like harmonica hooks and shards of fuzz guitar it’s not obvious that ‘Iron Mask’ could be a torch song to infatuated, obsessive agoraphobics. Matt Forder’s intent-ridden words subtly build to a darkly blissful anthemic chorus. More subdued, the b-side ‘For Now’, with its shimmering and warped guitar textures and square-wave bass line gently reminds of My Bloody Valentine or early Boo Radleys.
‘Iron Mask’, recorded by Robin-Proper Sheppard (Sophia and ex The God Machine), is a taster of things to come, with The Domino State currently in the studio working on a promising first album, scheduled for early 2008.

Review Summary
“The Domino State have made quite possibly the independent single of the year.” Tasty Fanzine
“With the moody malevolence of The Smiths and the languid guitar lines of Jesus & Mary Chain, we predict TDS will go far, and if not, we will be asking some serious questions!” Subba-Cultcha
“goddammit, I like it….. a swelling, emotive pop song, playing on echoes of Idlewild, The Smiths, My Bloody Valentine and – dare I say – the spirit of the New Romantics, but weaving something new and interesting out of these many threads.” is this music?
“brooding, epic soundscape that hints at the sinister but also finds rooms for a substantial euphoric undercurrent.” Gigwise
“Dreamy smoldering slowly uncoiling indie rock of a My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive nature, well worth your time” Organ
“….like The Charlatans at their most baggie and anthemic. Great stuff and a promising debut from this London five-piece.” The line of best fit ‘Single of The Week’
“head swirling bliss fuelled abandon which might just knock you senseless into the middle of next week.” Losing Today
“…. one of the strongest live acts around at the moment….There’s a touch of Ride and even a dash of Kate Bush; in terms of somehow being quite uniquely English….corking single.” Rockfeedback
