Always Sometimes Never & Hotel Pelirocco are proud to present the screening of the directors cut of 'Culture, Alienation, Boredom and Despair - A documentary about the early history of the Manic Street Preachers directed by Kieran Evans.
'Culture, Alienation, Boredom and Despair' was originally planned as a 20 minute DVD extra to accompany the remastered and expanded edition of 'Generation Terrorists', made by acclaimed filmmaker Kieran Evans (Kelly + Victor, Finisterre) and longtime Manics collaborator Robin Turner.
Simon Price will be hosting the Q & A with Kieran and talking about his work with the band.
'Generation Terrorists' represents a period of wide-eyed optimism in the Manics' career - a fact clearly reflected in the warmth of the conversations captured in the film. Covering everything from self-financed singles and pay-to-play gigs through to the emotional resonance of the band's epochal eighteen track major label funded debut album. 'Culture, Alienation, Boredom and Despair' sees the Manics and key players such as Martin Hall (the band's longtime manager), Bob Stanley (Saint Etienne), Steve Brown (Generation Terrorists producer) & James Brown (ex-NME) talk candidly about the band's early career, their debut album and the circumstances that helped spawn it. These conversations are framed by a rich archive of video and printed material that the filmmakers were granted access to by the band.
The film will be supported by five Manic Street Preachers promo video's personally selected by Nicky Wire and seldom seen on the big screen.
