Bardens Boudoir presents the Winter Warmer

Youthmovies

Post rock legends in the making, and pioneers within the new experimental scene, Oxford's Youthmovies come down to Bardens for a one off London show. Mixing elements of hardcore punk with prog rock and experimental soundscapes with pure pop melodies, it's easy to see why they are very much in demand. Youthmovies have played with bands such as 65daysofstatic,Cursive,Bloc Party, Death Cab for Cutie, Mission of Burma and collaborated with Saul Williams at the Leeds Festival. Prepare to be shocked, wowed and generally in awe.

"A genuinely scary art-metal racket" The Independent

"Like a post-hardcore brainstorming session on where music should go next." Steve Lamacq

Tired Irie

On everybody's list for the next big thing in 2008,Leicester's Tired Irie have the industry and fans alike eating out their indie-funk paws. Mixing punk rock with gorgeous harmonies and dance beats to create a mix reminiscent of bands such as Q and Not U, Foals and The Rapture. However they still manage to remain entirely original and resplendent in their creativity.

'Post-punk rhythms layered with powerful harmonies etched with guitars riffs and bass lines that pump through your heart like a big wheel generator. There's a profound statement in there somewhere, I'm sure of it. Fuck listening to it, I was off dancing! ARTROCKER

'Somewhere between the disco death marches of Interpol and the psychedelic incarnation of q and not u, these fraught songs possess an uplifting and intangible quality coupled with an unnerving eerie intensity." ROUGH TRADE

The Monroe Transfer

A seven piece instrumental group, The Monroe Transfer use their waves of orchestral power to create an epic soundtrack to modern day life, with ethereal subtlety mixed to perfection with explosive post rock. Often compared to instrumental stalwarts such as Mono, Godspeed and Yndi Halda, the band really have to be seen to believed.

"Listening to the Monroe Transfer is like falling down Alice's rabbit hole - there's no telling where the music will lead" BBC OneMusic

Safetyword

Math pop at its strangest and most creative, mixing acapella sections, handclaps, almost medieval instrumentation, harmonies galore and swooning lead vocals. They sound like a mixture of your favourite bands, left for half an hour to form a super group. Messy, funny, yet damn right amazing.

"Music like this is made not to be defined, just listened to" XFM
