TRAVIS ELBOROUGH AND TERROR AT LONDON BRIDGE
terror

In 1968 Nixon entered the White House, Martin Luther King was assassinated and protests raged about the Vietnam War on both sides of the Atlantic. London however, at least in theory, was still swinging. And it was in 1968 that one of the oddest events in Anglo-American history occurred: The City of London sold London Bridge to the Arizona-based McCulloch Oil Corporation. Brick by brick the 1831 structure was dismantled and rebuilt in a decidedly dry corner of Arizona.

Travis Elborough, author of London Bridge in America, tells the story of this extraordinary event and presents a special screening of Terror at London Bridge starring David Hasselhof.

Terror at London Bridge – 1985

London Bridge, London, England, 1888.

Jack the Ripper dies in the Thames river.

London Bridge, Lake Havasu, Arizona, 1985.

The last original stone used to rebuild the London Bridge is laid, But since that moment some strange murders happen. The policeman Don Gregory (David Hasselhof) has some suspects, but his ideas are quite strange – he thinks about a Jack the Ripper revived. Nobody believes him…

- plus other short films and guest DJs who knows what other manner of merriment.
