MANU DELAGO COLLABORATIONS FESTIVAL: (GROUP A) THAMES TUNNEL SHAFT then ENGINE HOUSE

Manu Delago has collaborated with diverse artists such as Björk, Shpongle, Bugge Wesseltoft and Anoushka Shankar. In April 2013 the Austrian musician founded the Collaborations Festival and its debut at Kings Place in London turned into a buzzing sell-out event.

For the second edition of the festival, Hang player and drummer Manu Delago invites and collaborates with some of his favourite musicians in what promises to be an underground and overground musical extravaganza.

The performance will begin with one audience group (A) in the depths of the Thames Tunnel Shaft whilst another group (B) will start above ground in the Engine House of the museum. Half way through the evening, these two groups will swap over. Both groups (A & B) will experience all the same performers playing - what changes is the order in which they will hear them.

By purchasing tickets here you are choosing to enter the Thames Tunnel Shaft first and then the Engine House.

Be aware that there is no wheelchair access and you will need to bend through a low tunnel and descend a solid scaffold staircase: flat shoes and an extra layer both advised!

This year Manu Delago will be collaborating with Christoph Pepe Auer, Isa Kurz, Alex Mayer & CatchPopStringStrong. Visuals will be by the VJ duo Luma.Launisch.

Christoph Pepe Auer is a cosmopolitan musician and composer who lives in Vienna and studied in Stockholm and New York. His music is based on Jazz, but is also influenced by Contemporary, Classical, African and Folk genres. His creative approach and addiction to colours also led him to invent his own instrument, the Pepephon.

Isa Kurz is an outstanding multi-instrumentalist who already as a child had lessons in piano, violin, recorder, guitar, dulcimer and oboe. Her versatility and incredible talent have made her a singer and musician in great demand.

Alex Mayer not only is a rock in the European Didgeridoo scene but he also pushed the playing techniques to a new level. After touring in South Korea, Nepal and all over Europe, performing with classical brass quintets and at techno parties, he suddenly found himself with a Tuba in his hands. What happened then has to be seen to be believed!

CatchPopStringStrong is made up of Jelena Poprzan (viola, voice) originally from Serbia and Rina Kacinari (cello, voice) from Kosovo. The Austrian World Music Award winners are probably the hippest duo to create a stir in the Viennese music scene. Beautiful and moving original compositions alternate with crazy arrangements of Scottish songs and Bulgarian dances, Bach meets Brecht, cabaret meets love songs from the Balkans, performed with an enormous drive and an immense delight in fun, play and subtle rudeness.

Luma.Launisch: The VJ duo Luma.Launisch, alias Astrid Steiner and Florian Launisch, create their surreal worlds on screens from techno clubs to classical concert halls. They have accompanied a diverse range of musicians including Qluster (formally Cluster), Groove Armada, the Zawinul Syndicate, Kristjan Järvi’s Absolute Ensemble and many more.
