As Fire continue their 30th Anniversary celebrations with a series of shows in May, they will be throwing the party to end all parties to herald the release of Cool Planet, the second Guided by Voices album of the year.

The gig will feature a host of GBV fanatics, playing original material as well as their favourite Guided by Voices numbers. The evening will be compered by Stewart Lee, whose GBV obsession has been well documented, who once described them as; "a mad bloke from Ohio who's a bit drunk and has a massive collection of words, the meaning of which he doesn't seem to care about."

Headlining will be Riding the Low, fronted by actor Paddy Considine who was inspired to start a band after seeing Guided by Voices play live. "Robert Pollard's songwriting is just incredible. The immediacy of it just blew me away. His presence on stage... Being a fan felt like being in a gang. I wanted my own gang".

Also appearing will be a selection of up-and-coming bands who have been inspired by Bob Pollard and co, as well as surprise guests, covers bands and more!

Cool Planet is due out on Fire Records on 19 May, more inescapable proof that Guided by Voices is the coolest band on the planet.

*please note the band Guided By Voices will not be playing this show. This is a special event to celebrate their new album, released on Fire Records on May 19th.
