Leeds-based Post War Glamour Girls are staying true to their Northern roots, supporting their electrifying debut album ‘Pink Fur’ with a show in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. They’re bringing their sound to alternative music venue The Cluny for a performance on Friday, 28th March 2014.
Tipped by countless publications as one of Leeds’ leading emerging talents, the 17th February release of ‘Pink Fur’ is an exciting prospect for fans of the band’s main influences; The Pixies, Joy Division, The Smiths and Roxy Music. Their bold and impressive debut can already be experienced in the form of singles ‘Light Bulb’ and ‘Jazz Funerals’, available on the band’s YouTube page.
‘Pink Fur’ may be a debut album, but Post War Glamour Girls are certainly not new to the stage. Formed in 2010, they’ve been writing and performing together for several years. Their live shows are smouldering – described by critics as ‘feverish’ ‘thumping’, ‘gripping’ and ‘brooding’. It’s exactly what you’d expect from a punk rock show.
If you add vocalist James Smith’s unforgettable roar, the jarringly sweet vocal contribution from Alice Scott and emotive, abstract lyrics tackling issues that matter to them, it’s likely more than what you’d expect from a punk rock show.
