The arrival of Melissa James' debut album, Day Dawns, was much welcomed when it released in summer 2012. Greeted with rave reviews and a top 10 position in the EuroAmericana Chart, it perfectly showcases the vocal and song writing talents of a singer who had been modestly working the music scene for many years.
Drawing upon the soul and gospel she'd listened to in her youth and her latter day music influences, the album is a collection of songs crafted from a place of depth and integrity. Think Lizz Wright meets Amos Lee as they cross paths with blues man, Eric Bibb and you'd be getting close. Melissa's music fuses her love of blues, folk, country and jazz bundled in a package of soul, taking you on mini detours which draw you into her sometimes raw and innermost thoughts. Combined with the velvety power through which she delivers, expect a performance which will leave your spine tingling.
