Raised within a few miles of farmland from each other in Pennsylvania, Maya de Vitry and Oliver Craven first shared a song in January 2010 and the nucleus of The Stray Birds was formed. They took America by storm last year having ended 2012 with “One of the top ten Folk/Americana albums of the year,” according to the NPR Music Awards. With their acoustic feel, marvellous songwriting and superlative playing, the Stray Birds are forging a leading name for themselves in the world of Americana music. They were stars at this year’s Celtic Connections and they arrive back in the UK fresh from an appearance at the big Tonder Festival in Denmark.
