NAT JOHNSON (MONKEY SWALLOWS THE UNIVERSE)
Blessed with golden tonsils, Nat Johnson is the lead singer of the hotly-tipped Monkey Swallows the Universe, an acoustic indiepop band from Sheffield. Their debut album "The Bright Carvings" made Rough Trade's top 100 Albums of 2006, they supported Mercury-nominated Richard Hawley and Camera Obscura on tour, and performed sessions on both BBC Radio 6 and XFM. With the band on hiatus this is a first chance for many to see Nat play solo.
“MSTU's heart lies with stripped-down folk, Nat Johnson's gorgeous vocals draped over acoustic guitars, cello and violin.” (The Guardian)

RORY MCVICAR
East Anglian troubadour Rory McVicar knows the value of a bloody good, idiosyncratic pop tune, a great drawly delivery and the occasional foray into Morrissey-esque musing with the lyrics. Rory has recorded Radio One sessions with both Rob Da Bank and Huw Stephens and released his debut album "No More Do I Care" last year to a host of good reviews.
"A potent mix of Low and Belle & Sebastian, McVicar cuts a startling shape amongst the nu-folkies” (Subba Cultcha)

JAMES SEVERY AT THE CIRCUS-CIRCUS
James Severy At The Circus-Circus writes wonky ballads - taking influence from Tom Waits, Dizzee Rascal and Armando Iannucci. His bedroom recordings have been played on Radio One by Huw Stephens, who invited James to play at the Latitude Festival as well as asking him to record a Maida Vale session. All this before the release of debut single Do The Circus-Circus on Art Goes Pop records. Live, James is a charming and captivating performer. Sharp and witty, he's on the rise.
"A bouncy, lyrically great record. Taking influences from all over the shop, Severy throws together a mixture of folk, guitar and beats" (Noize Makes Enemies)

PETE DALE
The godfather of the North East music scene, as head honcho of DIY label Slampt and via indie Ramones-alikes Milky Wimpshake and agit-punks Red Monkey, Pete Dale has been responsible for some damn fine music over the years. Solo there's more of a folk bent to proceedings, the influences of Phil Ochs and Billy Bragg shining through, as evidenced on his 2006 album "Betrayed By Folk".
"I can’t say any more about Pete Dale than the fact that’s he’s a most wonderful song writer" (Tasty)
