Papernut Cambridge celebrate the release of their new album There's No Underground with a launch event at The Walthamstow Pumphouse Museum.
The band will be performing two sets of songs from the album inside a decommissioned 1968 Victoria Line tube carriage at 1.30pm and 4.30pm. Special guests and DJs for the afternoon will be announced closer to the date.
Tickets are limited to 30 for each performance and are priced at £10.00.
There’s No Underground is a pop study of suburbia: its dreamlike convenience, but also its loneliness and introspection.
There really is no underground in South East London where Papernut leader Ian Button grew up and still lives, so the band have come across the river and North to find a fitting setting for the album launch.
Expect uniforms, garbled announcements, busking etiquette and occasional (tape) delays as well as a selection of refreshments, the chance to explore the museum, and to buy the album which comes as a triple 7” vinyl EP set (with a download code).
