A blazing line-up from an amazing label live at Newcastle's number1 leftfield venue. Hand-built ground-up from quiet beginnings in a back room on Teesside, Opal Tapes is now a global state of mind, a sonic umbrella embracing listeners and makers right across the virtual earth and bringing us all some of the best listening of recent times in the process.
There aren't many European cities KAREN GWYER hasn't played yet this year, unfailingly returning with a new clutch of ecstatic converts to her "Popol Vuh for the dancefloor" sound.
Fellow American PATRICIA pumps out dirty, dark, knowing, twisted yet sensitive yet probingly physical house music coated in a metallic liquid sheen.
WANDA GROUP might seem the joker in the pack but he's really the cerebral ace, lacing your vinyl with in-built sonic pranks, challenging your speakers to meet his demands, a true sound artist in a clown costume.
HOLOVR broadcasts cosmic dreams, A.I. flashbacks jacked up on factory beats, a sputnik crashing into a planet-sized bouncy castle.
And at the controls and steering us through the evening we have Mr Opal Tapes himself, Basic House as DJ and host.
We're bringing in big aft sound for this event and it may be one of the last times to enjoy some rhythmic reveries in the confines of the current Star & Shadow, so its a night not to be missed.
