A North American Double Bill: STEVE DAN MILLS (USA) + REID JAMIESON (Canada)
American singer-songwriter STEVE DAN MILLS was the co-founder of Speed Limit 35, one of the first folk rock bands in the American South. He has been enjoying a solo career since the mid-1970s and has performed at the Kerrville Folk Festival, London Folk Festival, Belfast Nashville Songwriters Festival and more. His music has been described as “the real thing, sensitive, moving, cathartic and healing”. He couples his very powerful vocals with acoustic guitar and harmonica. He elicits tears and laughter and instils hope in his audience. He has recently moved to London and has begun performing in folk clubs throughout the UK.
Steve's song "Dream On Texas Ladies" went to #18 on the Billboard Charts for Rex Allen Jr and sold over 4 million copies for John Michael Montgomery. His songs have also been recorded by major artists such as Neal Coty, Mel MacDaniel and Benita Hill. Guitar virtuoso Tommy Emmanuel has been covering the title cut from the CD, "Inside Out Lookin' In"
Vancouver’s REID JAMIESON shines his light with an incredible voice, therapeutic lyrics, and a magical way with melodies. A regular on CBC’s Vinyl Cafe, and winner of the grand prize for folk in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, Reid’s original recordings feature guests Sarah Harmer, Samantha Parton (Be Good Tanyas) and others. Reid recently recorded and performed with the Cowboy Junkies on The Kennedy Suite project, and will record a duet with Margo Timmins as part of a larger collection of duets he is working on for 2015.
Reid Jamieson will be performing at TwickFolk alongside his songwriting partner (and wife) Carolyn Victoria Mill. Along with their Lennon win, the two wrote their way into the Vancouver Folk Music Festival by winning 1st prize in the Pickin’ a Folk Star Contest, and have placed as finalists in several competitions internationally.
"Juniper's Kitchen", 12 years in the making, is the first with Reid joined by his wife Carolyn. They wrote and sang every song together, and will release it on their wedding anniversary in October. A true labour of love. Fleetwood Mac meets Johnny and June, this country-flavoured record is all about the songs,
A male k.d. Lang, or Roy Orbison’s long lost son; the comparisons continue to come in but Reid remains uniquely himself.
