In Supercrash: How To Hijack The Global Economy (Myriad Editions), Britain's leading graphic journalist Darryl Cunningham makes accessible the origins of the 2008 crash and exposes the philosophy of selfishness that allowed it to happen.
Cunningham draws a revealing portrait of the American New Right and the influential libertarian Ayn Rand, who was mentor to the young Alan Greenspan, former Chair of the Federal Reserve. Through his concise, intelligent cartooning, Cunningham shows how scapegoating the poor contributed to the rise of the Tea Party in America and UKIP in Britain and examines the neurological basis of political thinking and the challenges we face to change direction.
Acclaimed for his previous graphic novels Psychiatric Tales and Science Tales, Cunningham is in conversation with Danny Dorling, Halford Mackinder Professor of Geography and author of Inequality And The 1% (Verso Books). Dorling hails Supercrash as "Remarkable, informed, accurate and incisive... At last there is a single, readable book that explains to the generation that came of age in 2008 what happened, why it happened and why it will happen again unless we change the way we think." Followed by book signings.
A Comica Festival event in association with Myriad Editions and Verso Books.
