Alphaville (Dir. Jean-Luc Godard, 1965, 99 min, France, in French w. Eng subs)
One of the very rare science fiction films made in France, Alphaville was made by one of the fathers of the French New Wave, director of super cult Breathless. Set in 1960s Paris (no special decor was created for the film), this sci fi film noir is centred around secret agent 003 and has philosophical undertones.
