Wayne Shorter’s Speak No Evil
…”thinking of misty landscapes with wild flowers and strange, dimly-seen shapes…and the kind of place where folklore and legends are born”, Wayne Shorter composed the dark and eerie music of Speak No Evil, and recorded it with Elvin Jones, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Freddie Hubbard on Christmas Eve 1964, at the Rudy Van Gelder Studios in New Jersey.
This will be the album for the forthcoming Played Twice at Brilliant Corners on 20th November 2014.
We’ve got a 180g, four-sided, re-mastered pressing of the music, taken directly from the original Rudy Van Gelder engineered stereophonic session tapes. And, after a seated playback of that pressing, five of the country’s leading musicians will play their live interpretation of the music.
Those musicians are:
Quentin Collins (trumpet)
Tony Kofi (tenor saxophone)
Jim Watson (piano)
Enzo Zirilli (drums)
Mark Lewandowski (bass)
Here’s how the evening will run:
1730 Bar & kitchen opens, dinner service begins
